Fishing together with the VECHT skippers

The natural, varied environment and special catches make fishing on the Vecht a wonderful experience. Thanks to our cooperation with camping the Koeksebelt, the Reggesafari and the efforts of our volunteers, we can offer disabled people a wonderful (fishing) day out. The fishing trips take place during the camping season (April - October).

How does it work?

Two experienced volunteers drive the boat and guide the guests in fishing. The VECHT skippers can bring a maximum of two people in wheelchairs on board. As a guest angler, you are responsible for care supervision. There is plenty of room on board for a care escort. You do not have to be an experienced angler to join us. We will mainly be trolling with lures for predatory fish, such as pike, perch and predatory bleak. It is also possible to go trolling during the summer months. All necessary fishing tackle, a life jacket and (if necessary) warm blankets will be provided.

Location and facilities

You can safely board the fishing boat at the trailer slipway of Jachthaven WSV De Vechtstreek, Varsenerdijk 1 in Ommen. Here you will be welcomed with coffee or tea and something tasty. The marina has wheelchair-friendly sanitary facilities ↵.

Times

A fishing outing can be booked every day for 4 hours. For an evening session we determine the times in consultation.

Safety

Participation in a fishing day is entirely at the risk of the guest angler and his or her companions. Life jackets are available for all boaters. Our VECHT skippers have completed BHV (Company Emergency Response) or LEH (Life-Saving First Aid) training.
