Hof van Twente

Alluring and always beautiful. Bentelo, Delden, Diepenheim, Goor, Hengevelde and Markelo are set amidst a landscape of alternating meadows, woodlands and streams. Welcoming, charming places, each with its own character. You are welcome here all year round!

Hof van Twente originated on 1 January 2001 by virtue of the amalgamation of the municipalities of Ambt and Stad Delden, Diepenheim, Goor and Markelo. Hof is favourably located on the A1 and for rail connections and the Twentekanaal canal.

From an environmental perspective, Hof is one of the best preserved cultural-historical areas of the Netherlands. Where else can you find seven castles so closely together? Virtually everything in Hof is just as well kept as it was centuries ago when it was established. As it happens, the residents are committed to maintaining everything of value for posterity.

Castles

Various estates and beautiful gardens belonging to the castles are open to the public.

Windmills

There is much that defines the image of Hof, such as the historic windmills in Diepenheim and Delden. The Houtzaagmolen lumber mill in Delden, the Braakmolen flour mill in Goor, the Korenmolen corn mill in De Hoop and the Pelmolen grinding mill in Markelo are also unique. The very best nature has to offer In terms of nature, Hof is a place of extremes: from the cultivated parklands of Twickel to the rustic countryside of Borkeld in Markelo. The best way to get a good look at everything is to explore Hof via a good route.

Arts and culture

There are few places in the Netherlands with such an appreciation of arts and culture and where old and new blend so harmoniously. The best example is to be found in Diepenheim. That is where the first Dutch Drawing Centre can be found, and plenty of contemporary art besides.

Savour glorious Hof van Twente

Hof is a place where you can treat your taste buds around the clock. From bread to beer, from freshly smoked trout to honey, from shiitake to mustard and fresh herbs. As well as traditional asparagus dishes to delectable game dishes and first-class rosé to fine chocolate. Produce is for sale at the VVV Tourist Information Office, from businesses, and at the Streekmarkt Twente (market) in Delden.

Events

Many different events are held in Hof van Twente every year. A large number are traditional, but there are newcomers on a regular basis. Check the events diary!
