There are two sheepfolds on the Sallandse Heuvelrug: one near Twilhaar and one on the Sprengenberg. After years of absence, Twilhaar is home to a permanent flock of sheep with a fulltime shepherd once again, under the watchful eye of the Stichting Schaapskudde Sallandse Heuvelrug (Flock Foundation). The sheep help to maintain the heathland and to produce traditional heathland product as in times gone by.
